As we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Seven, never has the awareness and sheer volume of Sevens abroad been greater. Not only is the Seven one of only a handful of cars to reach its 50th birthday, it is also one that can be found in the most unexpected of places across the world probably making it one of the best globally represented cars ever!
Caterham Cars has always invested its resources in product development and quality and our current strategy is no different as we aim to keep up to date with the continually shifting homologation requirements, and thereby ensuring we continue to satisfy increasing overseas demand. Consequently, Caterham is pleased to be able to offer its customers two EU4 emissions approved engines in the form of the 1.6 Ford Sigma 115 Bhp and the 2.3 Cosworth 200 Bhp, in addition to the standard UK Sigma and Duratec engine range that only comply with the UK’s unique Single Vehicle Approval (SVA) registration scheme. Therefore choice is no longer a limiting factor!
Today representation of the Seven in international markets is just as important to Caterham Cars as its UK home market, with 50% of current production departing these shores. Key overseas markets are Japan, France, Germany and the United States, although many other European countries as well as some less obvious Seven destinations such as Bahrain, South Africa and Turkey regularly take supplies of our product.
As the demand for the Seven continues to grow across the globe so does our presence in the form of our Motorsport race series and Caterham Drive eXperience events. As part of our motorsport programme there are currently over 700 registered owner drivers racing in 17 multi-class one make championships in 9 countries and the figure is growing year on year.
And with established race series in the UK, France, Germany, Turkey, Japan, the US, South Africa, Scandinavia and new series emerging in The Gulf, Holland and Portugal amongst others, the programme continues to grow rapidly.
Through our Drive Experience events many hundreds of new customers are introduced to the enjoyment of a Seven. We now have established events running on a regular basis in Germany and Portugal and we are confident our brand awareness will increase as we intend to introduce this customer experience concept in France, Japan and the US.
